The morning the Tony nominations are announced, phones start ringing off the hook for the happy few who get nods. As usual, Broadway.com is among the callers offering congratulations and getting responses. Here are the first reactions from 2010 Tony nominees. Congrats to all!
Sean Hayes
Nominated for Best Actor in a Musical, Promises, Promises
“Oh my God, I woke up at like 8:30 or something. My publicist called me and said congratulations. I was still half asleep and I didn’t know what she was talking about. I was like, ‘Did I win something? Did I win the lottery?’ It’s just about like that. It’s thrilling. I still can’t believe it. I’m still pinching myself. It’s the cherry on top of an already perfectly made pie—meaning the experience of all this and to do it with Kristin Chenoweth. I believe the nomination is for both of us. I could never do this part without her. To me, being nominated is both of us being nominated. I am going to celebrate by relaxing and not going anywhere. It’s a large role, so any down time I have, I really covet.”
